Odyssey is start up social enterprise located in Boulder, CO. Our team is working to bring access to electricity to the 1.2 billion people in the world who don’t have it -- by facilitating rapid deployment of solar microgrids and distributed power plants in emerging markets. Our software platform simplifies, streamlines, and reduces the costs of developing and financing rural electrification projects around the world. Full Stack Engineer

Responsibilities:

  • Build out functionality of our microgrid developer tool suite
  • Streamline UI for data management and rapid deal creation
  • Assist in developing unit tests and automated regression tests

Who should apply:

Students who want to use their coding skills for a worthy cause: bringing electricity to those who don’t have it. You should be versatile and be prepared to learn and apply new implementation methods. You will be instrumental in developing core functionality of the platform, so you should be ready to think big and have your ideas be heard.

Required expertise:

  • Prior work in development of web applications
  • Experience with JS and Angular 5
  • Experience with machine learning is a plus
  • Familiarity with automated testing frameworks such as Karma, Jasmine and Selenium is a plus

Preferred skills/Majors:

CS or related

Data Scientist

Responsibilities:

  • Develop data processing procedures for large amounts of operating data to inform financing and future microgrid load estimation
  • Work directly with microgrid developers across the world to ingest their survey data rapidly into the Odyssey platform
  • Determine key metrics to display to financiers of electrification projects
  • Inform and write product requirements for data management and display

  • Quick learners who are ready to get their hands dirty and come up with big ideas in the process. Even as an intern, you will have an equal voice and the opportunity to shape the direction of the company.

Required expertise:

  • Experience with data analysis frameworks and analytics tools such as Python, R or Matlab
  • Ability to manage and query large datasets using SQL
  • Attention to detail, and an ability to adapt to new approaches
  • Experience with machine learning a plus
  • Coursework in energy/electrical engineering a plus

  • Statistics/data science or Engineering
  • Senior or Master’s preferred
