Cuberg is a battery startup developing a next-generation battery technology with drastically improved safety and energy density. The company spun out of Stanford in 2015, closed a seed investment round in 2016 with a corporate customer and development partner, scaled up its technology to commercial-format prototypes, and will close an additional financing round in January 2018 led by a leading corporate venture group in the aviation sector. Cuberg has attracted significant early traction with the biggest global players in the oil & gas, defense, and aviation industries. Ultimately, Cuberg's technology will power the electronics and transportation systems of the future.

Cuberg is based in Berkeley, California and is part of the second cohort of the prestigious Cyclotron Road hardtech accelerator. Battery Engineering Associate


  • Review and understand scientific literature on lithium metal technology
  • Prepare novel electrolyte formulations to enhance lithium metal cyclability
  • Prepare battery components and coin cells for testing
  • Design and assemble battery test fixtures for extreme operating environments
  • Perform a variety of electrochemical and physical characterization experiments
  • Present results to the team and suggest new pathways for development

  • Has a do-whatever-it-takes attitude, thrives in a fast-paced startup environment, and is capable of delivering project deliverables on time

Preferred skills/majors

Skills: electrochemical characterization, basic wet lab skills

Majors: materials science, chemistry, chemical engineering, or other STEM majors
