Advances in the production and consumption of hydrogen are ushering in a clean hydrogen economy, decreasing emissions in difficult-to-address industries. Recent pilots of hydrogen fuel cell technology within heavy-duty transport segments such as trucking, shipping, and aviation have shown immense promise. However, current storage options limit the adoption of hydrogen in heavy-duty transportation. Verne seeks to address this challenge. The Verne team has designed a high-density, low-weight, and low-cost hydrogen storage system specifically for trucks and ships. The system builds upon decades of research in hydrogen storage for light-duty vehicles. The team developed an innovative method for connecting multiple tanks, meeting the energy demand of heavy-duty applications and maximizing system density. The team's proprietary combination of new hardware and control system software maximizes the system density for multi-tank systems, eliminating the need for certain components that are necessary for a single tank, and thereby reducing overall system cost and weight.
