Anza will drive utility-scale clean energy development and electric vehicle adoption in Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA).  Large cities in SSA suffer from a myriad of issues, notably insufficient electricity access, high petrol prices, and extremely poor air quality. Rapid urban growth will exacerbate these problems in coming years. Due to the feeble state of the electrical grid, clean energy is not forecasted to play a meaningful role in utility-scale generation in this region. Without a modern grid and ample supply, electric transportation is a non-starter. Our solution revolves around an innovative business model – Power to Transportation (PtT), which sidesteps traditional business and infrastructure barriers via vertical integration. The key technical component is developing a swappable, multi-use battery and software package specifically designed for motorcycles in SSA. PtT’s benefits include increased cost-effective electricity supply, a more distributed and reliable electrical system, reduced fine particulate matter (PM 2.5) pollution, and substantial income savings for urban residents. Our concept has the potential to upend existing transportation options for hundreds of millions of people and drive widespread clean energy investments.
