Scope Zero is a fintech platform that facilitates its new employee benefit called a Carbon Savings Account™ (CSA). Employees use CSA funds for eligible home technology and personal transportation upgrades that reduce their utility bills and fuel consumption. The CSA lowers the upfront costs of upgrades in two ways: employer matches (think health savings account), and referral discounts from partner vendors within the CSA marketplace ecosystem. The CSA-enabled carbon reductions contribute to corporate sustainability goals by lowering scope 3 work-from-home and commute emissions.

This collaboration between corporations and individuals creates the financial incentives and educational foundation to address the 33% of total US carbon emissions that come from residential energy consumption and personal vehicle usage.

Responsibilities

Refine data models that calculate baseline utility usage and associated carbon emission reductions for end-users with and without interval utility data
Optimize relationships between home energy and water data, utility pricing, electricity carbon emissions based on employee’s home location, square footage, occupancy, and utility connections
Create machine learning models to forecast CSA-enabled financial savings and carbon emission reduction

Who Should Apply

Passionate about individual and/or corporate sustainability efforts
Experienced in database structures, data analysis, and machine learning
Proficient in Python
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Required Expertise

Experience with Python required
Preference for familiarity with Postgres databases
