At Kit Switch, we are transforming the way apartment interiors are designed and built. Installing interiors will not only be required across new construction projects, but also in the vast majority of existing buildings in need of an upgrade. These ready-to-install kits shorten timelines, reduce costs, and lower carbon emissions while offering a more predictable process for developers, architects, and contractors. Responsibilities
Kit Switch is searching for a Product & Architectural Design Intern. In 2026, Kit Switch will be designing and delivering kitchen and bathroom kits to a growing portfolio of multifamily housing projects in different states. During Summer 2026, you will be in direct collaboration with our team and specifically our Product Designer to manage our product library and visual assets, support customer design deliverables, and contribute to the development of our modular interior kits. Some example projects include:
- Maintain and update our Revit and Inventor product models and libraries
- Generate 3D models, drawings, and renderings for client projects and sales materials
- Collaborate with architects and partners to test and refine Revit workflows
- Lead market research, create models and prototypes, and compile user feedback to inform new product development Curate product finishes, hardware, and material palettes
- Support product development and the design of new product lines (kitchen, bath, storage)
- Maintain clarity and structure in our product documentation systems (e.g. naming conventions, parts lists)
- Create manufacturing / shop drawings, implement QA processes and tolerance analysis, and coordinate with manufacturers on design intent and drawing accuracy
- Create visuals and diagrams for marketing, proposals, and technical guides

Required Expertise
- A background in Product Design, Architecture, Industrial Design, Engineering, Sustainability is favored but not required.
- Any experience with the following is preferred: 2D/3D modeling, shop drawings, prototyping, construction methods, life cycle assessment, embodied carbon, professional writing, market and industry reports, Google Workspace.
- Familiarity with real estate, architecture, construction, and affordable housing.
Preferred Skills/Majors
- AutoCAD, Autodesk Revit, other 2D/3D Modeling software, Google Drive Suite, Microsoft Suite, Slack, Notion.
- A creative eye, Strong spatial design, good imagination, vision, and a firm grasp of market trends and customer preferences.
- Motivated, proactive, passionate, well-organized, and detail-oriented with excellent team communication skills.
