Insitu provides pre-development services to clean energy developers, with an initial focus on solar and battery-storage projects. Pre-development encompasses site selection, landowner intelligence, and desktop de-risking of environmental and grid interconnection risks. We use a unique data asset that encompasses structured and unstructured, public and proprietary datasets including satellite data products, land parcel records, geotechnical reports, and regulatory databases. Insitu received TomKat funding in the summer of 2024 and we have already secured paying customers that include renewable developers, and economic development organizations looking to attract clean energy projects. The founders bring deep experience from across the software, infrastructure investment, and private equity industries.
Responsibilities
- Assist with site selection for renewable developers using the Insitu data asset
- Build custom data pipelines for each customer to automate their site selection
- Build internal tools for data acquisition and validation
The ideal candidate will be
- Excited by the prospect of accelerating clean energy deployment
- Open to serving developers working on complex projects (e.g. landfill solar, agrivoltaics) where standard modeling approaches are infeasible
- Comfortable directly presenting sites to customers on a weekly cadence and rapidly iterating based on their feedback
Required Expertise
- Experience building and maintaining Python data pipelines, with an emphasis on libraries for geospatial analysis (e.g. GDAL, Rasterio, Shapely, Geopandas)
- Familiarity with Git
- Experience with Azure or other Cloud providers – our pipelines rely extensively on the Azure SDK, Google Maps API, and the Open AI API.
- Experience with (or willingness to quickly learn) building UIs in Retool.
- [Bonus] Experience with running pipelines in the cloud – we use Modal for compute-intensive jobs.
