Kit Switch facilitates the adaptive reuse of existing buildings into housing (www.kitswitch.com). We are a team of five women, architects and engineers, creating prefabricated wall panels for developers to seamlessly add kitchen and bathrooms to existing structures. Our kit is an end-to-end which includes both hardware and digital models to integrate with architect and contractor workflows.

We are offering two positions:

Product Engineer

Responsibilities

We value crafting an enriching experience based on your own interests and goals. Some example projects include:

  • Contribute to the assembly and manufacturing of Kit Switch prefabricated wall panels
  • Design tests and simulations to validate product specifications (cost, time, sustainability)
  • Test and refine existing digital tools for design assistance (Revit families and floorplan layouts)
  • Possibly be involved with panel installation on pilot projects in SF Bay Area or Los Angeles

We also look for an ability to:

  • Work both independently and collaboratively in a small team
  • Meet regularly and share progress through clear and effective communication
  • Take initiatives and be involved in different projects

Who Should Apply

Anyone with a creative spirit, curious mind, taste for problem-solving, and an ability to be flexible. If you are passionate about improving the ways we build, want to work on challenging issues such as the affordable housing deficit and COVID-19 economic recovery, or are intrigued about sustainability, democratic design, industrialized construction, and circular production systems, this is the place for you!

Required Expertise

Familiarity with the AEC industry (architecture, engineering, construction) and real estate development.

Preferred Skills/Majors

A background in mechanical engineering, civil engineering, structural engineering, construction management or architectural design is favored but not required.

Any experience with the following would be a plus: Revit, AutoCAD, building materials, building codes, building products and sustainable materials.

Sales and Marketing Intern

  • Find vacant building opportunities and assess the feasibility of adaptive reuse projects using in-house tools developed by Kit Switch
  • Refine existing tools to improve the go-to-market strategy

We also look for an ability to:
