When we first conceived of Federato, we started by asking ourselves a simple question – did we think the best way to capture machine learning’s potential was by building ad-optimization or back office automation software? The answer was no.

We’ve set out to build software that works to address the generation defining issue of economic inequality in the face of climate change. The insurance industry is currently confronted with a $150B+ coverage gap as the increasing frequency and severity of climate events has found an industry unprepared for necessary change.

By rethinking the first principles of state of the art predictive and optimization mechanisms, we’re working to help the insurance industry adapt to these problems. The team is looking for talented, driven, and, above all, caring individuals to join us in that journey.

About the Jobs

Federato technologies is a venture-backed startup based in Menlo Park, CA looking to secure
machine learning, data, full-stack, and front-end engineering interns for Summer 2022. These roles will report directly to the CTO and team-members will be fully enabled to design, engineer, and productionize mission-critical functionality. All positions may be completed remotely and have the potential to convert into full-time offers in September 2022.

Software Engineer

Requirements

  • Demonstrate interest in engineering for impact
  • 3 or more years of Bachelor’s education (or equivalent) focused in computer science, or related fields
  • Comfortable with JS, React, TypeScript
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical limitations and considerations with designers

Nice-To-Haves

  • Familiarity with containers, Kubernetes, and the related cloud-native ecosystem
  • Familiarity with Python (Django)
  • Familiarity with machine learning models and/or convex optimization

Illustrative Project Areas

  • Built out end-to-end features based on external client requests
  • Working with internal Designers to productionize data heavy functionality
  • Champion production for a contemporary front-end focused on ML interpretability

Data Science

Requirements

  • Demonstrated interest in engineering for impact
  • 3 or more years of Bachelor’s education (or equivalent) focused in statistics, computer science, or related fields
  • Ability to derive, modify, and implement a variety of machine learning algorithms from scratch
  • Familiarity with the conventions of state-of-the-art ML Python interfaces – Keras, Tensorflow,
  • etc.
  • Work experience delivering significant ML implementations, ideally in an enterprise setting

Nice-To-Haves

  • Familiarity with containers, Kubernetes, and the related cloud-native ecosystem
  • Familiarity with React, GraphQL, Apollo and related frameworks

Illustrative Project Areas

  • Define an optimization framework compatible with a secure, federated environment
  • Champion production for a contemporary front-end focused on ML interpretability
